The student council at Ellesmere College is made up of a range of students aged 4-19 throughout the college and over the two sites at Aylestone Meadows and Knighton Fields. In addition to this we have two head students, who are ambassadors for our school.
All students have been elected by their peers to be a “voice” for the students and share ideas. Our head student elections involve making a video of themselves stating how they can improve the school and why they should be voted for. The head students regularly feedback to the Executive Principal after each meeting and are a driving force in student voice input into the College Development Plan.
The student council are involved in organising fortnightly online class meetings using our Smart Student Council tool, recruitment, working with external agencies, community projects and decision making.
Student council have been involved in designing our new back playground, staff interviews, designing new communication boards, student surveys, rewards for Happy Breaktimes, and helping to plan the Fun Day.
The head students are actively involved in reporting back student voice to the Governors.
The student council feel valued and a worthy group within the College and understand they are able to influence change.
